Duck Eggs are a thing of beauty. Like fine porcelain, it seemed a shame to put the shells on the compost heap, so I started to decorate them.
Through a small hole, I blow the egg out (they make great cakes) and wash and sterilise the shell. Then I put a thin layer of PVA on the inside of the shell to strengthen it. It's still best not to drop it on a hard surface, though!
I decorate the eggs using a variety of techniques, laquer them and add a ribbon and a bead end cap over the bottom hole.

Personalised Eggs
This Gallery gives an idea of the sort of eggs I've personalised to order.
Lola Rose's egg was commissioned before her birth. I received the details of date and weight etc when she was born (they are on the back of the egg) and the egg was decorated and dispatched within a few days of her arrival.
The Norwegian flag egg was a birthday gift for a lady proud of her Nordic heritage.
The other two eggs were for wedding gifts, one based around the theme of the wedding and the other reminiscent of the bride's button bouquet.
